Profile guide

Write a lesbian dating profile that sounds like you

The strongest profiles are not the most polished. They are clear, specific and easy for the right person to begin a conversation with.

Start with three useful details

Choose one detail about everyday life, one interest that you actively make time for and one thing you hope to share with another person. This gives a reader a picture of you without turning the profile into a résumé.

Instead of: “I enjoy having fun.”
Try: “My ideal Saturday includes a market, a badly competitive board game and dinner with friends.”

State your intentions without writing a contract

You can be clear and still leave room for a connection to develop naturally. Phrases such as “open to dating and hoping for something meaningful” or “meeting new people without rushing” communicate direction while respecting uncertainty.

Choose photos that build a consistent picture

  • Lead with a recent photograph in which your face is easy to see.
  • Add an image connected to an activity or place you genuinely enjoy.
  • Respect the privacy and consent of other people in a photo; choose a different image if they do not want it shared.
  • Check backgrounds for addresses, work badges or other private details.

Write in your own voice

Read the profile aloud. If it sounds like an advertisement or something you would never say, simplify it. Humour can help when it is natural to you, but you do not need a performance. Avoid stereotypes about what women “should” be like and describe your own preferences instead.

Leave two conversation openings

A profile should answer basic questions and create new ones. Mention a small opinion, an unfinished plan or a favourite ritual: the film you defend, the town you want to explore, or the recipe you are trying to improve. These details make a thoughtful first message easier.

Review for clarity and privacy

Remove contradictions, unexplained lists and information that could identify your home or daily routine. Check spelling, but keep your natural phrasing. Update the profile when your intentions or circumstances change rather than changing the date to make old information look new.

Show the person behind the profile

Use a few honest details to help compatible women recognise what they might enjoy about meeting you.
